new

There's not much fodder from my life for an entry today... so why am I making an entry? That's actually a good question; I think I'm making one as much to avoid my homework as much as anything else. Avoiding my homework, of course, can only hurt me later on as I scramble frantically to catch up.

I think tonight will be devoted to more about Queensland. But first some mentions: Frannie, because I promised her I would mention her daily, and Chloe, because she's been teaching me these neat HTML tricks without which I wouldn't have been able to make the links I just did.

Onward and upward...

Queensland is an island nation. It is entirely self-contained and the climate ranges from subtropical and Taiwan-like in the islands of the north to cold and characteristic of taiga in the south. The island isn't very big- bicycles, bicycles-for-hire, and well-paved roads allow the greatest length of the island to be travelled in about five days. The government is at present Democratic Socialist. The tricameral legislature, President's offices, and 26-member High Court are all centered on an island in the middle of Lake Mnemosyne which serves also as the hub of the republic's capital. Queensland along with twenty-eight outlying islands falls under the jurisdiction of and maintains foreign relations under the name of "The Queer Republic of Queensland." (All right, so that's not the most creative name for it... does anyone have a better name?) As I mentioned before, the houses are stone and wood, the lakes are midnight blue, the rivers run clear, there is almost no pollution, and everyone wants to keep it that way.

If you feel you have something to offer for the bettering of this land, do drop me a line at [email protected]. Even if you don't and want to tell me that I sound as if I've gone barmy... send away - it's the same address. So far I've mapped downtown Queerton - the residence of government, and I'm working on The Citadel, where the military hangs out (headquartered, of course, in the Heptagon... there weren't enough sides to the Pentagon.) I've at present counted fifteen states, one territory, and eight municipalities. Education is compulsory to year 12 (senior year of high school) and provided without charge to year 16 (figure it out!). I'm probably coming across as a dork, and most likely no one else cares - but I do, and I like it, and it's mine. So thbbbppppth.
